How to do a background check on your Kids Birthday Party Entertainer

How to do a background check on your Kids Birthday Party Entertainer
Before hiring your Kids Birthday Party Entertainer, it would be a good idea to do a background check on him/her.

Tell him/her that you are going to do a background check and have him/her sign a statement authorizing you to do so. If he/she doesn’t want to give you this information, do you really want to trust this person with your kids? Once you have a signed statement, gather all of the necessary information. Important information to obtain include current and former names, date of birth, business and personal cell phone numbers and their business and personal email addresses.

In addition, ask your Kids Birthday Party Entertainer for at least three references. Contact every single one of them. Get details. Do you recommend him/her? Would they hire him/her again?

Collecting the Personal identifiers
Personal Identifiers
Once you have all of the required information and a signed release, start off by visiting any full service Registry of Motor Vehicles and obtain a full driving history report. A driving history report you ask? Yes. A driving history report will list former names that your potential Kids Birthday Party Entertainer may have used in the past. Thanks to a little known case law, Christianson v. King County 196 F. 791 and many other related federal cases, any person in the United States may use and/or even officially change their name on all of their identifying documents (ID Card, SSN Card etc) “as long as there is not intent to deceive” WITHOUT a court order. This means that a person could have a rap sheet a mile long and you would not know about without the previous name(s) since there is no paper trail for the name change.

Other sources to obtain a list of potential Personal identifiers would be criminal court records and newspaper articles. These sources often give the aliases of persons charged with crimes.

Business & trade name Identifiers
To get a list of other businesses where your potential Kids Birthday Party Entertainer has other businesses, simply check the secretary of state’s website where he/she resides.

Civil & Criminal Record Records
Online sources for instant access to civil & criminal records include:

http://www.nsopw.gov/Core/Portal.aspx  offers the ability to run a name free of charge to see if a person is a registered sex offender.

http://www.pacer.gov offers the ability to run a name (usually for a fee) to see if a person has a civil and/or criminal record in any U.S. District Court.

In addition to the above links, be sure to visit the local court house where the Kid’s Birthday Party Entertainer resides and/or works.

Character
Using all of the identifiers obtained including names, aliases, email addresses and telephone numbers, search each identifier in the Google search engine along with other consumer complaint websites such as ripoffreport.com. Doing this will allow you to see if your Kids Birthday Party Entertainer has any complaints against him/her.

Online Persona
Surely would want to know if your Kids Birthday Party Entertainer has inappropriate photographs, or is bad-mouthing their past clients. This is where facebook comes in. While logged in to your facebook account, search the entertainers email address in facebook to see if he/she has a profile. There is a possibility that the profile may be “hidden” from the public, however, it is worth trying.
